Hide Overview

Available: All Year Round | Max Participants: 4 Persons | Lenses: 300mm – 500mm

Featured on Autumnwatch 2015 this has to be one of the best hides in the UK. Chris Packham was blown away with this place and raved all through the series about Mad Max and described this Sparrowhawk not only as the best bird on the planet as a species, but the best bird in the world as an individual! Now available all year round as I have the Sparrowhawk visiting several times almost every day.

This woodland hide offers a host of species with constant activity. Birds such as Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Siskin, Goldfinch and Lesser Redpoll are regular visitors along with several other species of finches and Tits. We also get regular visits from Buzzards and Roe Deer. The day starts at 730am and finishes when you please, but it is advised to stay until the light fades.

BOOKINGS FOR OUR HIDES WILL BE VIA THE WEBSITE ONLY AS OF JULY 2018…
For bookings in May & June 2018 please check availability on our facebook page here, and book via email info@photographyhides.co.uk.

Additional Information

Meeting Point & Time

7am Beside the War Memorial at, Ringford, DG7 2AL

It is important that clients are there sharp as I only have a 30 minute window and if you are late you may loose your day. It would also be appreciated if you could be suited and booted and have all your required kit ready prior to the meeting. Thanks

Clothing

It can get a bit chilly at this site as it is situated in the moors and relatively high up so warm clothing is advisable. Despite being dry ground to be on the safe side wellington boots are advised in the very unlikely event that your feet get to close to an Adder by mistake. The walk to the spot is only a few hundred yards, very flat and easy to get to on foot.

Facilities

Due to the location of this spot, there are no toilets on site.

Amazing. I don\’t have enough superlatives to describe this place. Alan is a great and friendly with an obvious commitment to the work he does. The set up he has created is just magical and located expertly. To see such a wonderful bird up close is a truly breathtaking experience. In between sparrowhawk visits I was blessed with regular visits from the Great Spotted WoodPecker, Jays, Siskins and Red Squirrels. I cannot wait to return to Scottish Photography Hides and i\’m sure it will be very soon. Thank you again Alan, I am beyond grateful for the work you do.
